lakes leisure is a sport and leisure charitable trust formed in 2003; we run three leisure facilities – lakes leisure Kendal, lakes leisure Ulverston and lakes leisure Windermere which allows us to offer a diverse range of activities to the local community and its visitors all year round.
Our service delivery is very much centred on the local community and we strive to offer an excellent variety of activities encouraging people of all ages and abilities to visit our centres and enjoy their leisure time. We aim to fulfil a number of core objectives and values within our service such as making activities inclusive, affordable and accessible to everybody regardless of age, ability or situation. We also fully support government led and national well-being initiatives such as Change 4 Life, The Big Splash, London 2012 Inspire Mark, ‘Back 2’ and many more.
We recognise the importance of health and well being within our programmes and offer lots of different activities not just at our centres but also in the local community. Our Community Sports Teams run sessions in partnership with Age UK, Cumbria Constabulary, Cumbria Sport, St Mary’s Hospice and other local groups and partners.
2012 is an exciting year for the country as we welcome the Olympics and Paralympics to London. Here at lakes leisure we aim to offer facilities which inspire the young people in our community to take up a sport and build their skills with the chance of representing teams at a local and even national level. We have a number of qualified sports coaches and a large network of clubs – a future Olympian or Paralympian could be just round the corner.
As a company we are proud to have won many awards for our commitment to the environment and have been recognised by CBEN Gold awards at both our Kendal and Ulverston centres. For more details please see our environmental policy.
