Canoeing & Kayaking
lakes leisure Windermere is an approved British Canoe Union centre. The BCU is the national governing body for canoeing and kayaking. We run a variety of courses from introductory sessions to specialist skills for those wishing to progress through the BCU star award scheme. So, whatever your age or ability we would love you to come and give paddlesports a go at lakes leisure Windermere!
All canoeing & kayaking activities are run under the guidance of BCU qualified and experienced instructors, in a relaxed, safe and friendly atmosphere.
Our fleet has been upgraded this year and now provides many different crafts for you to try. We have ‘sit on top’ kayaks, Pyranha master kayaks, Prospector canoes, Necky Blunt, Eskimo diablo and Robson moonsters.
We are able to offer the following courses: BCU 1 and 2 star awards, 3 star touring award and children’s paddlepower awards.
Introductory and full day sessions
Why not book an introductory session in canoeing or kayaking or come along for the whole day and learn the basics with one of our fully qualified instructors. You can also work towards BCU qualifications.
5 Week Courses
We run regular 5 week courses in paddlesports leading to BCU qualifications and free membership of lakes leisure Windermere. We run a variety of 5 week courses during the season please click for further information and dates.
2 day courses
Our 2 day RYA/BCU courses are scheduled based on demand but we are happy to arrange 2 day courses at various times throughout the season so please contact us to discuss details.
