Diving & Competitive Starts

Basic Diving

This basic level course covers the theory, safety and skill of diving into the swimming pool.
To attend the course it is recommended children have a safety colour Red, can swim 50m and are confident in deep water.

Intermediate Starts

This course is ideal for children wanting to further their diving skills and progress onto competitive deep end starts (from blocks) for Frontcrawl, Butterfly & Backstroke.
This course is suitable for anyone who has completed Basic Diving. Experienced swimmers may attend this course without previously passing Basic diving.

Competitive Starts

This course is based on the ASA Competitive Starts award covering competitive starts for all 4 strokes including the use of deep end starting blocks, shallow end starts. Even after passing this course many swimmers find it useful to attend the course again to improve further.
Please note to fully achieve this award it is a legal requirement that children must be able to swim 4 strokes. Children should have previously attended the intermediate starts course, however very experienced swimmers may attend this course without previously passing the intermediate level
