IFI Inclusive Fitness Initiative
IFI Facilities at lakes leisure Ulverston
Our Fitzone gym has specially adapted equipment to accommodate disabled users as well as professionally trained staff on hand to help with your fitness programme goals and objectives. We have lots of IFI users at the gym so please do give us a call to discuss your requirements further.
The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) has been in operation since 2001, receiving in total £6million from the Sport England Lottery Fund. The IFI operates around five key principles:
- Accessible facilities
- Inclusive fitness equipment
- Staff with appropriate training and skills
- Appropriate, inclusive marketing strategies
- The development of alternative inclusive sporting opportunities
The combination of these elements ensures that the IFI creates not only accessible facilities, but an inclusive environments. lakes leisure Ulverston is a recognised IFI facility. Our centre is fully equipped to accommodate disabled users.
All our facilities are on ground level with easy access doors and corridors.
Car Parking
Marked car spaces are available at the pool / Fitzone centre adjacent to the front doors.
A special area for disabled parking is available at the Tennis Centre / Outdoor Complex opposite the outdoor tennis courts
Disabled Toilets
Disabled toilets are available at both our sites.
Access to Facilities
All our facilities are at ground level and all facilities are available for use by people with disabilities.
Pool Hoist
As with all other facilities the pool is available to people with disabilities on a casual user basis. The pool is equipped with a pool hoist for use during any session.
If you should wish to use the hoist please inform reception on arrival.
