lakes leisure Windermere has a great local watersports provision, we’re glad you are considering coming ‘on board’ and starting up this fantastic activity with us! We’re open from the Easter holidays through to October Half Term, so come and join in the fun…

I’ve never done any watersports but it looks like fun…

That’s because it is! Even if you have never tried watersports before or haven’t been in or on a boat(!) for years you will soon get the hang of it and enjoy being out in the fresh air on Lake Windermere. We specialise in all things water; canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing so whichever of these you would like to try we can certainly accommodate you.

You may want to consider booking a private tuition session for 1-2 hours, half day or full day at our watersports centre on Rayrigg Road near Bowness. If you are visiting in a group of 3 or more it is certainly worth looking into the option of group tuition, which can be great value. We have full changing facilities and storage at lakes leisure Windermere so simply give us a call to discuss the dates we have tuition available to book.

So how can I make watersports more than just a one off activity?

Here at lakes leisure Windermere we are accredited by the RYA and BCU which means that we provide qualification courses in paddlesports, sailing and windsurfing. You could opt to take part in our 2 day courses which lead to qualifications from the RYA/BCU or alternatively we have 5 week courses which run on various weekends during the summer. Once you have completed one of our courses you will then become a ‘member’ of lakes leisure Windermere which entitles you to come to our weeknight club sessions for just £5.00! What goes on during the season for juniors?

There is loads going on over the watersports season for juniors aged 7-14! Our season starts in time for the Easter Holidays when our first Splash days of the season commence! Splash days are adventure days based at Windermere or Brockhole and provide an action packed day of fun, all equipment is provided on site and the days run from 9.30am-3.00pm and cost just £50 (discount if you book 3 or more days!). We also have full watersports activity weeks during the summer holidays including Paddle Power, Wind Week and Swallows and Amazons to name just a few!

Don’t forget, our introductory watersports sessions at Brockhole are open to locals too so if you are looking for something to do for a few hours come and see us – prices start from just £14 per hour tuition, £10 per hour hire.

If you are looking for a more regular watersports activity our 5 week courses run in junior format too along with our weekly club nights. We also have junior Team 15 and RYA On Board which focus on junior watersports events and races. Simply give us a call for more details on how to get started!
