Olympic & Paralympic Sports

lakes leisure Kendal hosts such a wide variety of sports that it is no surprise many of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sports can be tried right here at the centre - 15 at the last count! With London 2012 fast approaching there has never been a better time to consider trying some of these sports for the first time. Take a look at some of the sports on offer and how you can get involved at lakes leisure Kendal:

Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Canoeing

Our junior swimming programme at lakes leisure Kendal Swim School covers swimming and synchronised swimmng in an introductory junior format with the ASA National Plan. We also have Kendal Junior Swimming & Water Polo club and Lakeland Canoe Club who regularly use the centre. Check the Clubs page for details of how to get in touch.

Badminton and Table Tennis

Both badminton and table tennis can be played casually at the centre with equipment available to hire at reception. We also have Branthwaite and Strickland badminton clubs who are based at the centre during the year. Check the club page for details of how to get in touch.

Basketball, Football, Hockey and Volleyball

All these sports can be played in the sports hall on a casual basis with a group of friends, colleagues or family perhaps. We have no specific clubs representing basketball, hockey or volleyball at present but please do get in touch if you would like your club to be based at the centre.

We host an outdoor junior football coaching club through Premier Football Coaching, please check the club page for details.

Our successful ‘Back 2’ programme has run Back 2 Hockey and Back 2 Football sessions for ladies looking to get back into a sport they used to play. For details visit our ‘Back 2 Project’ page.

Boxing, Judo and Wrestling

We host lots of local martial arts clubs at the centre including kick-boxing, Jujitsu, wrestling and much more. Our martial arts clubs are very popular and are always looking to welcome new members. Please check our clubs page for details of how to get in touch.

Gymnastics

During the year we run our junior gymnastics courses with our fully qualified instructor. The courses are split into age groups; ages 5-8 and 9-11. For further details about this popular course please visit our junior activities page.

Triathlon

Triathlon is one of the newest Olympic sports having been introduced officially in 2000. Here at the centre we host a local Triathlon Club (My Tri Club) which runs different races throughout the year. These events are a fantastic addition to our offering and involve a run, swim and cycle in and around Kendal. Please visit the clubs page for more details and how to get involved.
