Activity Options

Dinghy Sailing

We have two sailing options with Laser Picos for solos or pairs and larger dinghies for 3 or 4 crew plus an instructor. (Maximum 16)

Windsurfing

With wide stable boards and rigs scaled to suit all ages and sizes this exciting sport is more accessible than ever and has a high grin factor for most participants! (Maximum 12 children for an introductory session/6 adults/children on a course)

Kayaking

 These single person boats have great potential for fun and games making them a popular choice with all age groups. Our venue allows for gentle, sheltered introductions close to shore or exploration further afield. (Maximum 16)

Open Canoeing

Open canoes, usually paddled in pairs, offer fun afloat whilst encouraging development of communication and co-operation between paddlers. Rafting two canoes together creates a stable platform offering accessible paddling activity to all levels of ability and confidence. (Maximum 16)

Raft-building:

Improvising your own craft is a great team activity which can be tailored to the age and ability of the participants whether helping to put together a pre-designed raft to guarantee success and a fun paddle or taking an experiential approach with a group working together to plan, construct and paddle their own design. (Maximum 16)

Problem-solving

Stretching minds and bodies a range of exercises for groups. Can the shepherd herd the sheep into the pen? How will everyone get safely across the crocodile infested swamp? Activities will be adapted to participant’s age and aims. We can also bring this session to you at your own site. (Maximum 36)

Orienteering

A sport to introduce using a map and finding your way. Younger groups will enjoy simple map games and "treasure hunts” whilst older students can learn about scale, distance, landscape features and using a compass. We can also deliver
orienteering sessions at your site or other locations around the Lake District. (Maximum 36)

Climbing/Abseiling

We run introductory climbing sessions at local crags to suit the ability of the group. We can also include an abseil (roped descent of the crag) which can provide an exhilarating personal challenge and a group experience. There is the option of using an indoor wall (subject to entrance fee) for less weather dependant activity!

Ghyll Scrambling

Ascent or descent of one of the Lake District’s steep streams. According to age, ability and aims we will select anything from a relatively dry scramble to a super-wet descent with jumps and slides into pools. (Maximum 16)

Hill-walking

With everything from gentle lakeside paths to high summits within minutes drive we can provide a taste of the outdoors to all. Qualified mountain leaders enhance the experience with input on the environment or navigation and mountain safety.
