At lakes leisure Kendal we have a fabulous theatre venue which allows us to host some of the UK’s best comedy acts, theatre shows, children’s shows and much more. The theatre itself can seat an audience of up to 900 on a mixture of tiered and flat seating. The flexibility of our venue means that we can accommodate a wide variety of shows with different seating and stage layouts available.

Many people may not be aware of the scale of our theatre offering and the famous faces who have lit up the stage since we opened our doors in 1982 with Showaddywaddy! Each year we offer a varied programme of events which has seen us welcome comedians like Peter Kay, Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey, Paddy McGuiness, Al Murray, Frankie Boyle, Lenny Henry and many more. We have hosted performances from The English Touring Opera, The Royal Shakespeare Company and even The Chinese State Circus!
Over the last couple of years we have introduced children’s shows to the lineup including The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Peppa Pig’s Treasure Hunt.
If comedy isn’t your thing – what about music? In recent years we have had exclusive performances from X-Factor’s Chico, Eton Road, Same Difference, Lloyd Daniels and Daniel Johnson. We never know who we might get next - so stay up to date with our latest news by signing up to our e-newsletter!
Local and National OrchestraWe are proud to host The Lakeland Sinfonia and Westmorland Orchestra here at the centre who light up many weekends throughout the year with their hugely popular performances. We also welcome the Halle and BBC Philharmonic orchestras as part of the concert season and the very festive Lakeland Sinfonia Christmas Concert is a great finale to each year.
The hall is a superb venue for an exhibition, during the year we hold various exhibitions and shows including the very popular Colin Caygill’s Antiques Fair, Kendal Model Railway Exhibition, Connexions Careers Fair and much more. Highlights from 2011 include our annual Cat Show and a new Babymaze Baby & Toddler Fair! You can also hire the hall for your own event or exhibition – please visit the conferences section for details.
