Swimming Admission Policy - lakes leisure Kendal

SWIMMING ADMISSION POLICY (under 8s)

 

This policy is in place to help ensure the safety of young and weak swimmers and has been developed following advice from national governing bodies including The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management. 

 

An adult (swimmer) must accompany all children under the age of 8yrs and any non-swimmers in the pool.  They must go in the water and maintain a constant watch over the children and maintain

close contact with the children who are weak or non swimmers.

 


Public & Fun Time Sessions (incl. Family Sessions)

 

Under 4 years..............1 adult : 1 child with or without armbands

4 – 7 years.................1 adult : 2 children with or without armbands

 


Learner Pool Only – designated non swimming area 

 

Under 4 years.............1 adult : 2 children with armbands

4 – 7 years................1 adult : 3 children with armbands – children in
                                  this category should be advised to wear
                                  armbands if they would do so normally.


Please note:

•An adult must be a responsible person, at least 16 yrs of age
  who can swim.

•Weak and non-swimmers must remain in areas of the pool
   in which they can stand.

•Non-swimmers wearing armbands must remain in the shallow end.

•If a lifeguard has concerns about a swimmer’s ability they will be asked to perform a simple test.  Swimmers will be asked to jump into water 1.5m deep so the head is fully submerged, tread water for 1 minute and then swim 50m in under 2 minutes.  If this can not be done competently the swimmer will be asked to remain in the
shallow end of the pool.

 

 

HEALTH & HYGIENE CONSIDERATIONS

 

- Please use the toilet and shower with soap and water before
  swimming.

 

- Babies and Young children must use special swim trunks – not
  nappies.

 

- If you have recently suffered from diarrhoea please refrain from
  swimming for 14 days.

 

- If you have any medical conditions that may be affected by
  swimming eg epilepsy, diabetes etc please inform

reception/lifeguards.
