National charity Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research has organised sunrise to sunset challenges across the UK on Sunday 3rd May. lakes leisure Windermere will host one of these from sunrise at 05.36 until sunset at 20.31 when at least one windsurfer will be on board sailing laps of a specially designed course on Lake Windermere!

Participants taking part in the Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research challenge include staff members, local windsurfers and also juniors from the centre’s Team 15 club.  If you would like to join in, it’s not too late, visit www.nationalwindsurfingweek.org for more details.

In addition to this on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May there will be FREE 1 HOUR ‘COME AND TRY IT’ WINDSURFING SESSIONS for those who would like to try the sport. Please book these in advance by calling the centre on 015394 47183. Throughout the rest of the week (Tues 5th-Sun 10th) there are two for one offers on introductory windsurfing sessions and also 2 day windsurfing courses are 20% off.

Kathy Jackson, Manager of lakes leisure Windermere says:
"National Windsurfing Week is a great chance to highlight the sport, we hope that people will support the challenge on Sunday and then they can come along on Bank Holiday Monday for our free ‘come and try it’ sessions!”

The aim of National Windsurfing Week is simple – to introduce more people to the thrill of windsurfing and increase the number of people windsurfing on a regular basis.

"Windsurfing is such an exhilarating activity and is a great way for families and friends to get active and socialise at a local venue", Kathy Jackson concluded.
